In the second night of racing, American, US Open, and NCAA records fell once again, with Katie Ledecky blazing a 4:24.06 breaking every record she could, Cal’s 200 free relay en route to new US Open and NCAA records in a time of 1:25.59, while Stanford’s 200 free relay finished 2nd with a new American record of 1:25.91, Olympic gold medalist Simone Manuel set a new NCAA record of 21.17 in the 50 free, and

Highlights from Floridian women included:

200 free relay:

The FGCU relay placed 15th with a time of 1:29.10, consisting of sophomore quartet Katie Latham (22.45), Floridian Gracie Redding (22.22), Stuart native Hannah Burdge (22.25), and Fanny Teijonsalo (22.18).

500 free:

Bradenton native and Wisconsin senior Danielle Valley finished 7th in the 500 in a time of 4:38.31, finishing just off of her prelims time of 4:38.07.

200 IM:

Oldsmar native and Texas A&M sophomore Sydney Pickrem finished 4th in a time of 1:53.30, breaking the Texas A&M record of 1:53.64, set by Pickrem at SECs.

50 free:

Florida had no representation in the top 16, but highlights from prelims included FSU junior Tayla Lovemore finishing 39th with a time of 22.50, FIU junior Letizia Bertell finishing 46th with a time of 22.63, Florida freshman Emma Ball finishing 52nd with a time of 23.06, and Miami senior Angela Algee finishing 53rd with a 23.16.

400 medley relay:

Fort Lauderdale native and Georgia junior Chelsie Britt split a 50.79 on the fly leg, contributing to Georgia’s 6th place finish. Naples native and NC State sophomore Elise Haan split a 51.80 on the back leg as a part of the Wolfpack’s 10th place relay. Miami native and Michigan junior Clara Smiddy split a 51.91 on the back leg and Coral Springs native and Michigan junior Emily Kopas went 58.93 on the breast leg of Michigan’s 11th place relay.
