The Florida State swimming and diving teams will officially open the 2017-18 on Friday at the All-Florida Invite at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Natatorium in Gainesville, Fla.

Teams representing Florida, Florida State and Miami will compete in the three-day, prelim/final meet. The Seminoles return to open the season at the All-Florida Invite after a year absence.

“It feels early to start the season this year, especially with Hurricane Irma,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “I think it’s good for us to have to race and have the right mindset to perform. I’m looking forward to seeing what our student-athletes can do and what we can learn from this.”

The meet will follow the NCAA format with prelims starting at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The top 16 swimmers will advance to finals at 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s events will feature the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free in addition to the 200 free and 400 medley relay. Women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter diving will be contested at 2 p.m.

The Seminoles will face both Florida and ACC foe Miami in dual meets later in the season in January.
