Sarasota swimmer, Luci Lozano has committed to the Air Force Academy in Colorado, joining their 2019 recruiting class. Lozano announced it on her Instagram, where she wrote,

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the United States Air Force Academy! The academy offers nothing short of a superlative education, endless opportunities, and exceptional athletics. I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for their support both in and out of the pool. I’m eager to serve this country and officially become a falcon! #aimhigh”

Lozano swims for Riverview High School under Brent Arckey. The team has maintained a legacy of excellence, placing top five at the 4A State Championships throughout Lozano’s three years. Just last year, Lozano was a member of Riverview’s bronze-winning 400 freestyle relay, and their fourth-place 200 medley relay. Individually, Lozano placed seventh in her 200 IM, and seventeenth in the 100 fly. Overall, Lozano helped Riverview place third at the state meet.

Lozano also swims for the Sarasota YMCA, where she has been a valuable addition to the team. A top scorer at regional and sectional meets, Lozano is a Futures and YMCA Nationals qualifier.

While Lozano swims for Riverview, she attends Suncoast Polytechnical High School, a local magnet school. There, she is enrolled in their Practical Nursing Program and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Lozano’s dream of joining the military started with her uncle, who was a cadet at the Peruvian Naval Academy. After her recruiting trip to the Air Force Academy, she knew that was “exactly where [she] was supposed to be.”

We wish Lozano luck as a falcon!
