Two Gators competed on Day 3 of the World University Games, with Mitch D’Arrigo swimming in the men’s 200m freestyle final and Bayley Main participating in the men’s 50m backstroke prelims.
D’Arrigo raced in the men’s 200m freestyle final placing sixth with a time of 1:47.85. The Gator alum qualified for the final after posting a time of 1:48.10 in the semifinal round on Monday. D’Arrigo shaved nearly two seconds off his original preliminary time of 1:49.64.
Redshirt junior Main raced in his third event of the week on Tuesday, competing in the men’s 50m backstroke. The Auckland, New Zealand native placed 25th overall with a time of 26.14.
Wednesday’s preliminary session begins at 9 a.m. in Taiwan (Tuesday, 9 p.m. EST) with the women’s 200m breaststroke. The Gators have three people competing on Wednesday, with Maxime Rooney and Main both racing in the men’s 100m freestyle event. Georgia Marris is set to compete in the women’s 100m butterfly.
