FGCU announces recruiting class for 2015-16 swim season.

From Florida Gulf Coast University

Coming off its sixth Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Title and a mid-major best 26th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, FGCU swimming & diving head coach Neal Studd unveiled the team’s incoming recruiting class for the 2015-16 season on Friday.

The class is large, 18, and diverse with eight states represented (Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Mississippi, Arizona, Ohio, Maine and Iowa) and four different countries besides the United States (United Kingdom, Finland, Denmark and Puerto Rico).

“This is the best class we have ever brought in at FGCU but they are also following in some pretty good footsteps in both the classroom and the pool,” said Studd. “It’s going to be an exciting year as we have some good talent but it might take a while to get them doing things the way we want. It’s going to be a new challenge with this new generation of swimmers and divers but I am excited to see if we can take the program even further after the massive breakthrough year from last year.”

The incoming group will be welcomed by 19 returning letterwinners which last year won their sixth CCSA Title in seven years. They also had the most representatives at the NCAA Championships with a total of seven.
