Eric Christensen Breaks World Record
Florida Swim Network
October 10, 2014 – Blue Dolfins Master Swimmer and former Florida Gator Eric Christensen, swam a decent 1500 meter free at the Rowdy Gaines 6th Annual Masters Classic in Orlando, FL tonight. He finished just off the world record of 16:07.46.
Just after that event, though, with not much time to spare, he prepared for his main event, the 400 IM. Being an NCAA finalist in the 400 IM in the 90’s, Christensen, felt a little tight after the 1500. But…..he rallied.
Eric swam a very quick 4:30.68, beating the former world record by Uwe Volk of Germany. “I have a bunch left for that event” he said, “I was pretty tight in the mile, so it made me a little off for the 400.” Being happy with his first world record in the 40-44 age group he has more to go this weekend.
The Rowdy Gaines 6th Annual Masters Classic continues through the weekend at the Orlando I-Drive Aquatic Center. If you would like to go, the meet information is here.
To register for a Rowdy Gaines swim clinic on Sunday, go to the same site and register. Good luck swimmers!
