Shayna Fetes announced her verbal commitment in June via Instagram:

“ Im very blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Auburn University! Thank you to all my family, coaches, and teammates for the support that has gotten me to this point! War Damn Eagle”

Fetes has an incredible career under coach Stephen Cassidy. She has been a valuable addition to Saint Andrews over the course of the last four years. Her junior year, she won the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.40 and finished her 200 IM with a 2:04.04 in the A-final. Fetes had been a top eight state finalist prior to these finishes as well. Fetes was also an integral part to the Saint Andrews relays, splitting a 28.86 in the breaststroke leg this last year. In her last two individual FHSAA races, Fetes won the 100 breast in 1:03.07, and again finaled in the 200 IM.

Throughout the year, Fetes also swims club for Saint Andrews. Under their supervision, she has qualified for many national meets including Summer Junior Nationals, which she attended this past summer. Fetes qualified to swim 100 and 200 breast and the 200 IM. She swam those events in 1:13.77, 2:41.38, and 2:25.65, respectively.

Fetes’ thus far successful career has drawn her to Auburn as a competitive Division 1 school. When asked about her decisions, Fetes said, “ I choose Auburn because it felt like home. I knew the moment i walked on the campus this was somewhere i wanted to spend the next chapter of my life. The whole team is one big family as well as the school itself.”

We wish her luck as a Auburn Tiger! Go war eagles!
