Calvary Christian senior, Rachel Contich recently gave her verbal commitment to Cleveland State University. She announced her commitment in an Instagram post, commenting,

“ I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Cleveland State University! Thank you to all of my coaches, friends, and family who helped me along the way. I can’t wait to see what the future hold #govikings”

Contich has been a 1A state finalist for Calvary since her freshman year. As a sophomore, she swam a 5:00.32 in her 500 free, earning her first spot on the podium. Contich has also been a valuable part of the Calvary relays, leading many to states throughout her high school career.

For club, Contich swims at Pinecrest under Mariusz Podkoscielny. She has been at Pine Crest ever since she learned how to swim, growing up and loving the sport.

Contich has been part of the 2016 and 2017 Pine Crest Futures teams. In 2017, she helped the 800 free relay onto the podium and scored many points for the girls. Under Contich’s leadership, they ended up finishing second place overall at the meet. She is also a multiple time Senior and Sectional Championship finalist.

After a long recruiting process, Contich says “ I knew CSU was the right school for me because it offered everything I wanted, both academically and athletically. I love how close the team is and how invested the coaches are. I am extremely excited to be apart of the viking family!”

Congratulations, Contich! We wish you luck as a viking.
